What is recertification?
Every year, the DC Economic Security Administration (ESA) will ask you to send in renewal forms. You may be asked to provide proof of your income, your home address, and/or resources with the form.
Why do I have to recertify every year?
The recertification process helps the DC Economic Security Administration (ESA) confirm that you are still eligible for coverage.
How can HSCSN help me with recertification?
We have Benefits and Eligibility Coordinators who will meet with you in person at the HSCSN Wellness Center, your home, or a public location to:
- Help you fill out Medicaid renewal forms.
- Help you fill out Social Security Redetermination forms.
- Help schedule Social Security Income (SSI) redetermination appointment(s).
- Fax renewal materials on your behalf.

How does Medicaid recertification work?
The DC Economic Security Administration (ESA) will send a renewal form to your address 90-days before your certification period ends. Once you receive the form, fill it in completely and send it back to ESA. You may be asked to provide proof of your income, your home address, and/or resources with the form.
