Effective July 15th, Health Services for Children with Special Needs (HSCSN) will implement Optum Financial/Optum Pay as the check payment vendor for provider electronic funds transfer (EFT). The details to the provider letter can be found in this document.

Nurse Advice/Urgent Support

Health Services for Children with Special Needs, Inc. (HSCSN) is excited to share a new benefit with you! We have partnered with Imagine PediatricsTM to give you quick access to medical advice and treatment whenever you need it, right from home. Here are the two new services we are offering with Imagine PediatricsTM:

  • 24/7 Nurse Advice Line powered by Imagine PediatricsTM: You can now get advice from a licensed nurse at any time, day or night. They can help you understand the urgency of your health problem and tell you the best place to get care—whether at home, with your doctor, through a virtual urgent care visit, or in the emergency room. The Imagine PediatricsTM care team can provide advice on treatment, help with mental health issues, medications, unexplained symptoms, fever, cough, skin problems, etc. When you are unsure of what to do, you can message on the Imagine PediatricsTM mobile app or call the Nurse Advice Line first before going to the Emergency Department. The goal is to help you into the right care at the right time and place and avoid unnecessary trips to the emergency department.
  • 24/7 Virtual Urgent Care powered by Imagine PediatricsTM: If you need more help after receiving Nurse Advice from one of the acute care pediatric nurses, you will be connected to a Virtual Urgent Care medical provider through Telemedicine. The medical provider will work with you to address your health issue. If you are over the age of 20, you will be referred to an HSCSN network urgent care or an emergency department in the District of Columbia.

There are three ways to connect with Imagine PediatricsTM:

  1. Use the Imagine PediatricsTM mobile app or call: You or your caregiver can use the Imagine PediatricsTM mobile app to message or call Imagine PediatricsTM at: (833) 208-7770. In many cases, your urgent need will be addressed during this initial virtual visit.
  2. Call HSCSN Customer Care: If you need help connecting call us at (202) 467-2737, and we will connect you to the Imagine PediatricsTM care team, 24/7.
  3. Your HSCSN Care Manager can help: they can transfer you to the Imagine PediatricsTM care team, to help you get the care you need.

After your urgent need is stabilized, the Imagine PediatricsTM team will send an update to your primary care provider and HSCSN, so everyone stays informed about your care.

If you need an ED visit, Imagine PediatricsTM can call the hospital before you get there to give the staff an update.

Please remember: This service does not replace 911 for life-threatening emergencies.
